Elsewhere Entertainment is looking for a Senior Cinematic Animator to join the development of a new IP. Feed your creativity while collaborating with our team of highly skilled developers to build something innovative, exhilarating, and expansively entertaining! As a member of the Cinematic team, you’ll help create compelling, performance-driven character animation for real-time cinematics. In this role, you’ll contribute to shaping the emotional impact and quality of narrative moments while supporting the growth of fellow animators and strengthening animation standards across cinematic content. You’ll collaborate closely with teams across the studio to bring characters to life through expressive body and facial performance. This role requires strong acting skills, technical proficiency in real-time pipelines, and experience shipping narrative-driven games. As a member of the project, you’ll help take the studio and our game from great to even better; with a focus on inclusivity, mutual respect (for ourselves and our players), thoughtfulness, empathy, professionalism, and collaboration.

Job Responsibility:

  • Creating and refining cinematic character animation (body and facial), as well as animation for props and vehicles used in narrative sequences
  • Working with performance capture data, enhancing and refining captured performances
  • Producing keyframe animation when needed to support storytelling and character nuance
  • Collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams to align animation with story intent and gameplay integration
  • Providing clear, constructive feedback to rigging and technical teams
  • Maintaining high animation quality across your sequences
  • Supporting and mentoring mid-level and junior animators through feedback and knowledge sharing
  • Troubleshooting technical challenges in-engine for cinematic and conversation sequences
  • Contributing to improving animation workflows and pipeline practices

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated professional experience in game animation with a strong focus on cinematic work
  • Create believable, performance-driven character animation
  • Have experience working with motion capture and performance capture workflows
  • Bring a strong understanding of acting principles, body mechanics, and emotional nuance
  • Experience working in real-time game engines
  • Collaborate effectively across disciplines
  • At least two shipped titles in a cinematic focused role
  • The ability to collaborate and thrive as part of a creative team
  • Creativity in problem solving and a positive, respectful team-first attitude
  • Organization methods and the capability to meet deadlines
  • Comfort with self-critique and accepting outside feedback
  • A habit of regularly playing and understanding modern video games

Nice to have:

  • Facial animation expertise
  • Experience being part of performance capture sessions
  • Knowledge of cinematic camera language and shot creation
  • Experience with real-time character systems
  • Enjoyment of playing a variety of video game genres and titles
