The Senior Chief Engineer leads comprehensive building operations for a high-rise office property, combing advanced technical expertise with strategic leadership to ensure optimal performance of complex vertical building systems. This role oversees all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems while directing an engineering team to deliver exceptional tenant service and asset protection. You will oversee an engineering team of 4 at a 700k+ square foot Class A office building in Downtown Dallas.
Job Responsibility:
Oversee daily operation and maintenance of high-rise systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety, security, elevator systems, emergency generator, chillers, building automation systems (BAS), elevators, and pressurization equipment.
Lead and develop a team of engineers, technicians, and maintenance staff.
Develop and execute comprehensive preventive maintenance programs for all building systems.
Ensure full compliance with local, state, and federal regulations including building codes, environmental standards, and safety requirements.
Develop and manage operational budgets for engineering and maintenance activities.
Respond to tenant service requests and coordinate with property management on space modifications and improvements.
Requirements:
7-10 years of related experience, especially as a Senior Chief Engineer
3 years of people management experience (leading a team)
Trade school education, union training, military service or college is desirable
Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams)
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to work in mechanical rooms, rooftops, and confined spaces.
Comfort using ladders up to 10 feet tall or a powered lift up to 30 feet.
Ability to climb, bend, kneel, and lift as needed.
Strong customer service, written and communication skills
High School diploma or GED equivalent.
Advanced knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical distribution, plumbing, fire safety systems, and building automation platforms.
Proficiency with computerized building management systems and energy management software.
