Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has an exciting opportunity as we grow our claims team in Ireland. Our claims professionals are an integral part of our business, and we are seeking an experienced professional to join our growing team in Dublin. In the role of Senior Casualty Claims Adjuster, the individual will have a unique opportunity to handle and adjust all facets of casualty claims in a highly collaborative team environment dedicated to best in class claims handling. Job Responsibility:

  • Manage a diverse portfolio of claims across all casualty business lines, including Employers, Public and Products Liability, Excess, and specialised products
  • Take ownership of the claims process from first notification of loss through to resolution, providing expert guidance to internal stakeholders and maintaining strong relationships with clients and brokers
  • Oversee and adjust third-party claims impacting primary and excess policies, including those under self-insured retention programs
  • Collaborate with underwriting and actuarial teams to provide feedback that supports continuous improvement in service delivery, product strategy, and policy wording
  • Partner with insureds, brokers, and TPA’s to ensure fair, timely, and effective claims adjudication
  • Assess coverage, liability, and quantum to determine exposure and make informed decisions on claim strategy and reserve setting
  • Prepare clear and concise reports, set reserves within authority, and make recommendations on reserve changes where appropriate
  • Represent BHSI at customer meetings, mediations, trials, and industry events as needed, upholding our commitment to service excellence

Requirements:

  • Minimum CIP qualified
  • Must meet Central Bank of Ireland MCC requirements
  • High degree of specialised and technical competence in the handling of claims
  • Minimum 10 years of commercial casualty claims handling experience or matching equivalency
  • Ability to work independently and assimilate learning materials on many different subjects from various sources
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills
  • Ability and willingness to work effectively in a team environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Investigate, review, and resolve high-severity, complex, or disputed claims
  • Supervise, coach, and train claims specialists, providing guidance on technical claim matters and ensuring consistent application of claims processes
  • Determine the appropriateness and value of workers’ compensation claims conduct investigations to assess eligibility and ensure all legal and procedural requirements are met for timely and accurate claim processing
  • Provide expert advice and counsel to organizational leadership on the interpretation and application of workers’ compensation and property & casualty policies, regulations, and procedures
