Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Buyer to support ONNEC’s rapidly expanding business in Malaysia. With multiple data hall projects currently underway across several sites in Johor, and planned expansion into the Kuala Lumpur region, this is an exciting opportunity to join the business at a key stage of growth. As project activity continues to increase, the Senior Buyer will play a key role in establishing a coordinated and professional procurement function in Malaysia. This position will centralise day-to-day purchasing activities, support project teams, enhance supplier management, and ensure that materials and services are procured efficiently, cost-effectively, and in line with business requirements. This role represents an important first step in building a scalable procurement capability in Malaysia and will evolve as the business continues to grow.

Job Responsibility

  • Raise and manage Purchase Orders in accordance with company procedures
  • Source materials, equipment, consumables, logistics services, and subcontracted services required by projects
  • Obtain competitive quotations from approved suppliers
  • Compare pricing, lead times, and commercial terms to achieve best value
  • Monitor and track Purchase Orders through to delivery
  • Follow up on overdue orders and proactively resolve supply issues
  • Proof of Deliveries (PODs) and maintain procurement records
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local suppliers and service providers
  • Ensure timely availability of materials and services for project delivery
  • Establish procurement processes that can scale with future business growth

Requirements

  • Extensive purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or buyer experience
  • Familiarity with Malaysian supplier markets
  • Experience working within construction, data centre, infrastructure, engineering, or technology environments
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Good negotiation and supplier management skills
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
  • Experience using ERP systems (Netsuite) and familiar with P2P lifecycle
  • Deliver results on time
