The Senior Business Manager for Customer Security and Trust (CST) serves as a strategic and operational partner to leaders, with an emphasis on financial stewardship, headcount management, and business execution. This role drives clarity in complex and ambiguous environments by leading executive budget management, financial planning, and operational rigor across CST. The role is responsible for the end-to-end Executive Management budget for CST, active management of budgets for multiple teams, and overall financial and operational oversight across the organization. This position owns rhythm of business (ROB) mechanics, organizational scorecards, and operational reporting to ensure accountability, compliance, and alignment with leadership priorities. As a trusted advisor, the Senior Business Manager enables effective decision-making, ensures business continuity, and supports a healthy organizational culture aligned with Microsoft’s People Strategy and One Microsoft Diversity & Inclusion commitments. Job Responsibility:
Own and manage the full Executive Management budget for Customer Security and Trust, including planning, forecasting, tracking, and variance analysis
Lead budget and financial management for multiple CST teams, while providing overall budget oversight and financial guidance across all teams within the organization
Drive headcount management, including tracking approved headcount, position control numbers (PCNs), workforce planning, and alignment with financial plans
Partner with leaders on financial planning, resource allocation, and tradeoff decisions to support strategic priorities
Design, maintain, and continuously improve rhythm of business (ROB) processes, including monthly and quarterly reviews, planning cadences, and executive readiness
Develop and manage organizational scorecards and performance dashboards to track business health, execution progress, and outcomes
Lead operational reporting, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with Microsoft financial, operational, and governance requirements
Ensure operational compliance across budgeting, headcount, and reporting processes, partnering with Finance, HR, and other corporate functions as required
Drive prioritization and decision-making support for CST leaders by synthesizing financial, operational, and business insights
Manage cross-team initiatives and special projects to support evolving business needs and organizational change
Build and maintain relationships with senior leaders and stakeholders
tailor communications and materials for executive audiences
Support internal communications and executive content development related to business planning, financial performance, and operational outcomes
Promote a healthy organizational culture by supporting people programs, engagement initiatives, and diversity and inclusion priorities in partnership with HR
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Operations, or a related field AND 4+ years' experience in financial management, business planning, operations management, strategy, project management, human resources, or business-related roles OR equivalent experience
Master’s Degree and/or 6+ years of experience in financial management, business operations, strategy, or related fields
or Bachelor’s Degree with 8+ years of relevant experience
Experience with headcount management, workforce planning, and PCN tracking in a large, matrixed organization
Familiarity with Microsoft financial, compliance, and governance processes
Demonstrated success leading cross-team initiatives and driving change in complex environments
Demonstrated experience managing budgets, financial planning, forecasting, and performance tracking
Deep analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear insights and recommendations
Experience driving rhythm of business processes, scorecards, and operational reporting
Proven ability to partner with senior leaders and operate as a trusted advisor
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience supporting executive-level audiences
