We are seeking a Senior Business Development Manager to lead our growth efforts across the UK. This high-impact role is ideal for a proven B2B sales leader with experience in the education, apprenticeships, or skills training sector, who thrives on developing funded opportunities and shaping strategic partnerships.
Job Responsibility:
Lead funded growth by identifying, generating and converting new business opportunities across our apprenticeships provision
Present and negotiate by delivering compelling presentations and proposals, and negotiating terms with clients to secure long-term, high-impact partnerships
Influence strategy by feeding market insights back to our leadership team, helping shape new training offers and business development initiatives
Conduct in-depth training needs analysis with key clients, aligning our digital learning solutions to real business needs
Represent Althaus externally by attending and speaking at events, conferences, and networking opportunities to expand our brand presence
Collaborate internally with our talent and curriculum teams to ensure a seamless experience for both learners and employers
Model the Althaus values: ‘Taking Ownership’, ‘Unlocking Potential’, ‘Embracing the Future’, and ‘Bridging the Digital Divide’
Requirements:
Minimum of 3+ years’ experience in a senior business development or B2B sales role, ideally within apprenticeships, further education, or digital training
Proven track record of identifying, attracting, and closing high-value client partnerships, with demonstrable results against sales targets
Strong understanding of Apprenticeship Levy funding, government-funded skills programmes, and the wider training and education landscape
Confident in consultative selling and creating tailored client solutions
Experienced in using CRM systems (preferably HubSpot), Microsoft Office, and modern sales and marketing tools
High personal integrity, professional conduct, and a learner/employer-first mindset
Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle with business insurance
Travel across the West Midlands and occasional visits to our Derby HQ will be required
Nice to have:

Established network of employer contacts within the West Midlands region
Experience mentoring or supporting junior team members
