Job Description

Are you an experienced Business Analyst looking for a pivotal role in a major system migration and decommissioning program? We are seeking a Senior Business Analyst – Data Retention & Solutions to join our team. In this role, you will bridge the gap between Legal, Risk, Compliance, and technology teams to define, validate, and enable compliant, regulator-defensible data retention outcomes. This is a fantastic opportunity to combine data governance expertise with solution delivery, ensuring critical regulatory obligations are successfully translated into auditable technology solutions.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead the elicitation, definition, and validation of data retention requirements, managing data classifications, record classes, and retention rules across business and technology domains
  • Lead comprehensive data discovery and analysis across systems, reports, and downstream data stores to map data lineage, dependencies, and replication risks
  • Collaborate closely with Legal, Risk, and Compliance teams to validate regulatory obligations and disposal criteria, ensuring all decisions are traceable and defensible
  • Translate data retention and governance requirements into detailed solution specifications, including functional designs for structured, unstructured, and archival storage
  • Partner with architecture and engineering teams to support solution design, specifying models for controlled, read-only legacy access

Requirements

  • 8+ years of Business Analysis experience across complex data, regulatory, and technology delivery programs, ideally within a regulated financial services or retail banking environment
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering data migration, data retention, and system decommissioning initiatives
  • Strong hands-on experience in data governance, including data classification, system data flows, ETL/ELT processes, and working with data platforms like warehouses and cloud storage
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively within formal governance frameworks, managing approval processes, audit traceability, and stakeholder relations across Risk, Compliance, and Tech
  • Understanding of data lifecycle management, including retention expiry, legal hold management, secure data destruction, and object storage or archival solution patterns
  • 7+ years experience in finance sector
  • Bachelor Degree
