Job Description

We’re looking for a Senior Building Compliance Officer to join our monitoring and compliance team. In this role, you’ll lead and carry out compliance, auditing and enforcement activities across the district, focusing on post-consent compliance, including Building Warrants of Fitness (BWOF) and specified systems. You’ll also provide guidance and mentoring to build capability across the team.

Job Responsibility

  • Leading audits and inspections of BWOF buildings, including IQP compliance
  • Investigating non-compliance and preparing evidence for enforcement or prosecution
  • Issuing notices and documentation under the Building Act
  • Maintaining accurate records and reporting
  • Mentoring and supporting other compliance officers
  • Contributing to quality assurance and continuous improvement

Requirements

  • A relevant technical qualification and/or experience in building compliance
  • Strong knowledge of the Building Act 2004 and Building Code
  • Experience with compliance schedules and specified systems
  • Sound judgement and confident decision-making ability
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
  • The ability to work independently while supporting others
