Saphetor is pioneering the use of big-data sequencing technology, such as exome and whole-genome sequencing, for clinical practice. We are involved in both clinical research and diagnostics, providing our clients with quality analysis and interpretation of next-generation DNA sequencing (NGS) data.
Job Responsibility:
Build and maintain a pipeline for calling variants from genomic data, both ad hoc and using modern pipelining tools like Prefect
Ensure pipelines are reproducible, scalable, and adhere to best practices in data analysis
Design and code robust tools for the analysis of genomic data
Optimize existing code for efficiency and scalability
Requirements:
Undergraduate degree in Bioinformatics/Computational Biology, Computer Science, or a related field
Proven experience in bioinformatics algorithm development and pipeline construction
Proficiency in Python
Strong understanding of genomics, genetics and biology
Familiarity with databases, data management, and integration techniques
Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and, ideally, containerization (e.g., Docker)
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment
At least 4 years of working experience working in a Linux environment
Strong command of the English language, both written and spoken
The ability to work effectively as part of a team
Nice to have:
Higher degrees are a plus
Other scripting languages, e.g. Perl, are a plus
