R.Power is one of the largest independent renewable energy companies in Europe. Due to the company’s growth, we are looking for: Senior BESS Project Manager

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead the planning, development, and execution of BESS projects from initial feasibility through to final implementation, ensuring strategic alignment with organizational objectives and business growth targets
  • Take ownership of national and regional permitting and regulatory approval processes, ensuring full compliance and proactively addressing potential risks
  • Identify and prioritize high-value BESS/Storage project opportunities, evaluating site suitability and grid interconnection potential with a strategic perspective
  • Oversee and critically evaluate interconnection studies and technical reports produced by third-party consultants, ensuring robustness and alignment with project goals
  • Direct and mentor cross-functional teams in engineering analyses and alternative design strategies, leveraging internal and external expert resources
  • Lead negotiations with DSOs, TSOs, and regulatory bodies for interconnection agreements, tenders, and auction participation, representing the company at senior stakeholder levels
  • Collaborate closely with Legal, Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Finance, and Investment Analysis teams to ensure integrated project delivery and risk management
  • Drive innovation by evaluating emerging BESS and hybrid storage technologies, making recommendations to senior leadership to maintain competitive advantage
  • Prepare and present comprehensive project pipeline reports, performance dashboards, and strategic insights to management and key stakeholders
  • Lead market and competitive intelligence initiatives focused on energy storage and renewable projects, supporting M&A and business development activities
  • Foster seamless communication across teams and departments to ensure project transparency, alignment, and timely issue resolution
  • Assume responsibility for mentoring junior project managers and contributing to continuous improvement of project management standards and processes
  • Perform additional strategic duties as assigned by senior leadership

Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Extensive experience in progressive project management roles within the energy sector, with demonstrated ability to lead complex projects end-to-end
  • Deep knowledge of the Portuguese Renewable Energy Market and strong network within the sector, including licensing authorities and regulators
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD
  • familiarity with PVsyst, QGIS, and other specialized engineering tools is a strong advantage
  • Proven motivation and passion for renewable energy projects, with a commitment to driving sustainable innovation
  • Comprehensive understanding of regulatory frameworks, permitting processes, and grid operator requirements in Portugal
  • Strong technical expertise in engineering principles, permitting, and regulatory standards related to energy project development and operation
  • Exceptional project management skills, with track record of delivering projects on time, within budget, and to quality standards
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, energy storage technologies, and solar energy systems, with a willingness to engage in continuous technical learning
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills, capable of managing and influencing cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders
  • Proven ability to work independently, exercise judgment, and lead teams under minimal supervision
  • Willingness to travel as needed to support project and stakeholder engagement

Nice to have:

  • Familiarity with BESS, Solar, and Wind Project Development is highly desirable
  • Experience mentoring or managing junior staff is a plus
