Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) is the team behind the cloud. Within CO&I, the Datacenter Engineering (DCE) team is responsible for delivering core datacenter infrastructure for Microsoft’s cloud business. The MS portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large scale, multi-year datacenter construction projects. We are looking for a passionate, high-energy individual to help build the cloud datacenters that power the world’s largest online services.

Job Responsibility:

  • Deliver core BAS and EPMS engineering expertise to our A/E’s and internal stakeholders enabling Microsoft to design and build best-in-class cloud infrastructure worldwide
  • Lead and direct consultants in the design and coordination of the mechanical systems, associated controls, electrical systems and monitoring, and overall network topology
  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) providing key input to other organizations and stakeholders
  • Lead controls workgroups with representatives from AE firms and other key stakeholders within Microsoft
  • Responsible for specification and drawing development detailing the control diagrams, sequence of operation for the mechanical controls systems, electrical monitoring systems, overall network topology and communication protocols required
  • Travel to sites for “Factory Witness Testing”, consultant/vendor interaction in the design process, as well as final commissioning of the installed systems
  • Perform technical review of BAS and EPMS design documents from lease providers to ensure Microsoft requirements are met

Requirements:

  • Control system engineer with leadership experience in HVAC controls systems design and EPMS design for Datacenters
  • Able to work in a multi-disciplined engineering team designing Microsoft Datacenters globally
  • Possess the skills to work in a fast-paced multi project environment
  • Knowledgeable in the network topologies and communication protocols for both PLC and DDC controls systems
  • Firm understanding of the electrical distribution system design and monitoring requirements for mission critical applications
  • Firm understanding of mechanical system sequence of operation requirements and monitoring of all Datacenter HVAC control systems
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excel at project management
  • Able to multitask
  • Familiar with advanced engineering and energy efficient operational processes/procedures as they relate to large datacenter environments
