The Senior Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) Engineer is a key technical expert within IT Operations, responsible for designing, deploying, and supporting Azure Virtual Desktop and associated cloud infrastructure services. This senior role calls for deep technical skills, strong operational processes, and a focus on effective customer engagement to support a wide range of users including clinicians, analysts, executives, and technical staff.
Job Responsibility:
Designing, deploying, and supporting Azure Virtual Desktop and associated cloud infrastructure services
Collaborating with application owners, physicians, business leaders, and executives to ensure the delivery of reliable, scalable, and secure virtual desktop and remote application solutions across the organization
Requirements:
Manage and maintain Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environments, including host pools, session hosts, imaging, and remote application delivery
perform lifecycle operations such as image updates, regular host refreshes, validation processes, and change implementations
Monitor system performance, capacity, and session stability
identify and resolve issues through root-cause analysis and implement long-term solutions
Collaborate with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Networking, Security, and Cloud/Infrastructure teams to address and resolve cross-functional dependencies
Develop comprehensive runbooks, standard operating procedures (SOPs), technical documentation, and customer-facing communications for scheduled maintenance and outage events
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience required
Microsoft 365 Endpoint Administrator (MD-102) certification required
Microsoft Azure Administrator (AZ-104) certification required
Nice to have:
Hands-on Azure experience (across AVD, compute, networking, and storage) preferred
Experience managing cluster or pooled computing environments is a plus
