At Boeing, we innovate and collaborate to make the world a better place. We’re committed to fostering an environment for every teammate that’s welcoming, respectful and inclusive, with great opportunity for professional growth. Find your future with us. The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Senior AWS Cloud Architect to join the team in Renton, WA; Hazelwood, MO; Ridley Park, PA; or Seattle, WA. This position will provide architecture and hands-on technical leadership for the Capital Assets Performance System (CAPS) on Amazon Web Services (AWS), ensuring the platform is stable, secure, and operable for enterprise capital planning and high-visibility month-end financial processing. CAPS is an enterprise finance application used across Business Segments to plan and track capital budgets, obligations, expenditures, depreciation forecasting, and asset tagging in alignment with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the Boeing Accounting Manual. CAPS is currently in an active stabilization phase following its AWS migration; this role will assess the current-state cloud architecture, remediate operability and security gaps, and define and execute the next phase of modernization to reduce incidents, improve automation, and strengthen platform governance. Over time, this role has the opportunity to also expand to support other applications in the Finance and Program Management portfolio.
Job Responsibility:
Provide AWS architecture and hands-on technical leadership across infrastructure, application, and integration layers
Perform hands-on AWS assessment and troubleshooting across core services such as Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), Respiratory Distress Syndrome (RDS), and CloudWatch to identify root causes and systemic gaps
Lead stabilization and modernization efforts including batch reliability, performance tuning, monitoring/alerting, resiliency, and cost optimization
Establish reliable patching and maintenance operating patterns (including automation where possible) to reduce vulnerability exposure and improve compliance outcomes
Implement and mature observability practices using AWS-native capabilities (metrics, logs, alarms, dashboards) to reduce time-to-detect and time-to-recover
Own and evolve infrastructure-as-code, environment standards, and deployment patterns to improve repeatability and reduce release risk
Guide engineering teams on AWS-native services, reference architectures, and operational best practices aligned to Boeing standards
Manage technical design and change implementation for CAPS integrations with enterprise systems (e.g., Enterprise Accounting System, Finance Warehouse, Corporate Directory)
Drive platform governance improvements including cost optimization, operational discipline, and standardized cloud guardrails
