The Manufacturing Team at Hermeus are the boots on the ground. We have a vast array of experiences ranging from welding, additive, tube bending, machining, integration, and avionics. We are a lean team who are responsible for building a vehicle that will fly. We provide crucial design feedback to our engineering team and can rapidly iterate on design and assembly.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead improvement projects to ensure that safety, reliability, and process capability goals are achieved, maintained, and improved
  • Be a vital part of the relationship between our engineering and technician team
  • Provide input into the design and development of new and existing hardware and take a lead role in the manufacturing and integration of our current and next-generation vehicles
  • Drive root-cause analysis and corrective action recommendations/implementation
  • Apply process improvement methodologies and tools (e.g. value stream mapping, problem-solving, visual management, etc.) to reduce manufacturing build hours and quality issues

  • Manage projects and execute to tight timelines while effectively communicating with and influencing stakeholders

  • Work on process and tooling development/validation for new products
  • Drive the optimization of assembly and test procedures
  • Prepare engineering documentation necessary for the transition from development to production including assembly procedures, test procedures, standard operating procedures, schematic diagrams, bills of materials, suitable alternate parts lists, and mechanical drawings
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts of established product

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering or a technical discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in design and or production of electronics hardware systems

Nice to have

  • Experience with electro-mechanical assembly and subassemblies
  • Experience with end to end printed circuit board fabrication
  • Experience with high power electronics and/or motor drivers
  • Demonstrated professional experience providing engineering and manufacturing support for the production of highly complex electronic products
  • Experience transitioning products from design to manufacturing as part of a cross-functional team
  • Hands-on experience with passion for continuous improvement and building the best hardware
  • Experience implementing design for manufacturing and design for test feedback
  • Strong communication skills and ability to read and provide feedback on technical documents
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed
  • Capable of solving complex problems with little to no supervision on schedule as an individual or as a member of an integrated team
  • Ability to make appropriate assumptions and perform trade studies using first principles and engineering fundamentals to create rationale for clear recommendations
  • Demonstrated experience with CAD and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Experience in control and monitoring of complex automated systems and risk assessment/reduction of the system
  • Knowledge of ERP systems, work order creation/management and BOM structures
  • Experience working in a flight, aviation, aerospace development program
  • Experience transitioning parts from first article to production

  • Accountable for design engineering activities in the aircraft systems (Aircraft Control & Monitoring, Avionics, power & Mechanical systems, Powerplant).
  • Creation and authorization of technical solutions including justification reports for repairs, reworks or design updates. Standard repairs are approved autonomously, major repairs if required with the support of the transnational Airbus Engineering departments (design, stress, fatigue, aerodynamics, material etc.).
  • Define technical solutions during NC treatment for metallic and composite structures comprising the complete primary / secondary aircraft structure (all Airframe ATA chapters linked to structure design).
  • Accountability for the given approved repair, rework, and troubleshooting instruction as well as for design update solutions in front of the corresponding design/stress office and authorities (TC/FAA).
  • Represent and act in the name of the Chief Engineering and the design offices of AIRBUS (by delegation) as well as design to build suppliers.
  • Act as an interface between the A220 Family Chief Engineer/ Design office and the Manufacturing/ Quality assurance (Operations).
  • Provide engineering support to the FAL US during the complete manufacturing process from the delivery of the sections, FAL and flightline activities, up to the aircraft ferry flight in all structure related items including engineering presentations in front of the customers (internal and external).
  • Create, approve, and authorize temporary aircraft definitions (special instructions) in line with design and airworthiness requirements for testing purposes.
  • Create, approve and monitor design corrective actions / improvements and preventive measures (launch of new modifications, drawing updates, design query notes) driving product improvements or non-conformity eradication.
  • Present technical explanations/corrective actions to the flight test department and to the customer if required (internal and external customers).
