Aeva is seeking a Senior Automotive Reliability & EMC Test Engineer to own validation and compliance testing for automotive LiDAR systems through DV, PV, and production readiness. This role requires a deep understanding of automotive qualification philosophy, not just test execution. You will be responsible for translating OEM requirements and international standards into defensible test plans, identifying risk early, and ensuring our LiDAR products meet automotive durability, EMC, and functional robustness expectations. This is a hands-on role with high accountability, direct interaction with OEMs and third-party labs, and strong influence on hardware design decisions.
Job Responsibility:
Own automotive reliability and qualification strategy for LiDAR systems and critical sub-assemblies
Define and execute DV/PV test plans aligned with ISO 16750 (environmental & electrical loads), IEC 60068, OEM-specific durability requirements
Lead environmental and life testing including thermal cycling and thermal shock, vibration and mechanical shock, HTOL / HTOE, damp heat, humidity, corrosion, contamination exposure
Drive single-fault robustness validation in support of DFMEA and safety concepts
Perform and lead failure analysis, working cross-functionally with EE, ME, optics, firmware, and systems teams
Define pass/fail criteria, degradation limits, and design margins
Ensure test coverage maps clearly to DFMEA failure modes and OEM expectations
Own automotive EMC compliance and robustness testing, including CISPR 25 (emissions & immunity), ISO 11452 (ALSE, BCI, TEM), ISO 7637 (transients), ISO 10605 (ESD), IEC 61000-6-X
Define EMC test modes and operating states aligned with real vehicle use cases
Lead pre-compliance testing and debug, partnering closely with EE and layout teams
