Job Description:

The Senior Automation Orchestration Engineer designs, develops, and implements sophisticated end-to-end automation workflows that orchestrate complex processes across various domains within the financial firm's private cloud and virtualization infrastructure. This role is crucial for automating service delivery, incident response, and operational tasks, ensuring efficiency and consistency.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead the design and development of complex, multi-step automation workflows and runbooks
  • Utilize orchestration platforms to build and manage automated processes
  • Integrate orchestration solutions with various infrastructure components, applications, and IT service management systems
  • Implement error handling, logging, and monitoring within automated workflows to ensure reliability
  • Collaborate with infrastructure teams, application owners, and security to define and automate operational procedures
  • Optimize existing automation workflows for performance, scalability, and maintainability
  • Troubleshoot complex orchestration failures and provide root cause analysis
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers
  • Assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup

Requirements:

  • 6+ years of experience in IT automation or operations
  • 3+ years focused specifically on designing and implementing complex automation orchestration workflows
  • Strong experience with at least one enterprise-grade orchestration platform (e.g., ServiceNow Orchestration)
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, PowerShell) for interacting with APIs and systems
  • Solid understanding of private cloud/virtualization APIs and concepts
  • Knowledge of workflow design
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills for complex, multi-system issues
  • Strong logical thinking and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
  • Ability to translate manual processes into automated workflows
  • Project Management experience
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work in a matrix environment and partner with virtual teams
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, and take ownership of various parts of a project or initiative
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage to tight deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements
  • Proven track record of operational process changes and improvement
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
