Job Description

The Senior Accountant applies their expertise in accounting principles, firm policies, and financial regulations to deliver high-quality service to clients. This role involves leading engagements, collaborating on process improvements, and providing guidance to junior staff. A Senior Accountant demonstrates initiative, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to professional growth while ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Job Responsibility

  • Collaborates with the Engagement Manager to oversee engagements, ensuring consistent and effective client communication throughout the process
  • Identifies opportunities to enhance engagement efficiency, expand service offerings, and recommend improvements to client processes
  • Maintains compliance with FASB, AICPA, GAAP, and APB standards across all engagements
  • Prepares reports, manages projects, and optimizes the use of department resources to meet firm objectives
  • Stays informed on economic, political, and legislative trends while identifying opportunities for specialization within the firm
  • Conducts staff performance evaluations, supports recruitment efforts through networking, and contributes to staff training and development
  • Provides regular updates to leadership on engagement progress, challenges, and key developments
  • Mentors and guides junior staff, fostering skill development and confidence
  • Analyzes and implements effective solutions to address significant challenges, ensuring successful outcomes

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of Public Accounting Audit experience required
  • Active CPA licensure preferred, or efforts toward achieving
  • Must be a member in good standing with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and Minnesota Society of Certified Public Accountants (MNCPA)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong time management and organizational abilities
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
  • Required to sit for long periods
  • Extensive computer, keyboard, and mouse use
  • Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
