Job Description:

We are looking for a skilled and adaptable Senior Attorney/Lawyer to join our team in Austin, Texas. This is a long-term contract position that offers the opportunity to contribute to a variety of legal matters within a dynamic and collaborative environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong generalist background and excel in contract drafting, legal analysis, and coordination with external counsel. This position is HYBRID 3x/week in office.

Job Responsibility:

  • Drafting and reviewing routine business contracts and agreements
  • researching, analyzing, and summarizing Texas law and providing succinct legal memoranda via email
  • managing and assisting with resolution of small pre-litigation disputes
  • coordinating and directing outside counsel for various legal matters, from regulatory to civil litigation, based on our approved counsel list
  • providing high-level oversight of outside counsel performance, including optional review of legal bills
  • serving as a lead for weekly legal reviews, delegation, and prioritization on behalf of the General Counsel
  • navigating a broad generalist portfolio that excludes HR and IT, but includes real estate, regulatory, environmental, litigation, and other corporate legal issues

Requirements:

  • JD and active bar admission in Texas required
  • proven regulatory, environmental, utility, and/or generalist legal experience strongly preferred
  • experience partnering with outside counsel and prior work at a reputable law firm are highly desirable
  • strong ability to analyze and interpret legal statutes and regulations, particularly within Texas law
  • excellent organizational and coordination skills to manage multiple legal matters simultaneously
  • effective communication skills for collaborating with internal teams and external counsel
  • ability to work on-site in Austin, Texas, with flexibility for occasional remote tasks
