Job Description:

The Senior Associate, Law Operations will serve as a key member of Amgen’s Global Law Operations team, supporting and enhancing legal systems, templates, and AI-enabled processes used by the global Law Department. This role will help drive operational excellence through technology identification, implementation, and optimization, template governance, and close collaboration with the US-based Law Operations team, Technology team, and global stakeholders. The position is designed for an experienced legal operations professional who can translate legal and business requirements into scalable, secure, and efficient solutions aligned with global standards.

Job Responsibility:

  • Implement and govern content and logic changes to contract templates supporting contract generation solutions, supporting version control, testing discipline, and controlled releases
  • Support process design, documentation, and optimization initiatives across legal operations, with a focus on scalability, security, and operational efficiency
  • Perform business impact assessments, root cause analysis, and user acceptance testing for system enhancements, template updates, and process changes
  • Project manage legal system releases and non-release template or process changes, including scoping, scheduling, stakeholder coordination, and delivery tracking
  • Partner with Amgen Technology and AI teams to identify, test, and implement AI-enabled legal solutions, including document automation, workflow optimization, and contract system enhancements
  • Support responsible adoption of AI in legal operations by defining requirements, facilitating stakeholder alignment, and validating outputs against business requirements
  • Contribute to a roadmap of automation candidates and continuous improvement initiatives across legal systems and workflows
  • Provide operational support, troubleshooting, and user assistance for legal systems
  • resolve issues or escalate appropriately to Technology partners or vendors
  • Coordinate and liaise with Technology partners on system updates, releases, and ongoing support activities
  • Develop and maintain training materials, user guides, and process documentation for legal systems and tools
  • Maintain and manage content updates to Law Operations-owned SharePoint sites and knowledge repositories
  • Monitor Law Operations intake channels and mailboxes
  • triage, resolve, or route requests with clear service levels and user communication
  • Provide backup support across the Law Operations team and contribute to global best practice sharing
  • Manage the translation and localization workflow for legal templates and documents, including Clinical Contract Generation System templates, coordinating with internal stakeholders and approved external language service providers
  • Ensure accuracy, consistent terminology, and controlled updates across translated legal content
  • Support administration and maintenance activities for assigned legal systems (e.g., contracting, matter management, eBilling), including access requests, user administration, interface monitoring, reporting, and data migration activities
  • Track and report on legal operations metrics, system performance, and continuous improvement outcomes

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree/bachelor’s degree and 5-8 years of legal operations, legal technology, business systems analysis, and/or law firm operations experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate business and legal requirements into technical and operational solutions
  • Demonstrated project management, problem-solving, and analytical capabilities
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a global, cross-functional environment
  • Solid understanding of legal processes, contract lifecycle management, and system design/testing

Nice to have:

  • Hands-on experience with legal tech platforms such as CLM systems, ELM solutions (Matter management and eBilling), document automation tools, workflow solutions, and AI-assisted technologies
  • Exposure to AI-driven legal process design and partnerships with technology or data science teams
  • Experience supporting global or multinational legal teams
  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies
