Smallwood is seeking a Senior Architectural Project Manager with 10–15 years of professional experience to join our Atlanta office. This role is ideal for a seasoned leader who excels at managing complex architectural projects from concept through completion, while collaborating closely with clients, consultants, and internal design teams. The Senior Project Manager plays a critical role in ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the high design and technical standards that define Smallwood’s work.
Job Responsibility
Provide project management and design leadership across multiple complex project types, including Office, Mixed-Use, Hospitality, Multifamily Residential, and Educational projects
Lead project teams through all phases of design and documentation, from programming and schematic design through construction administration
Coordinate closely with Design Principals, Project Leaders, consultants, and internal stakeholders to ensure design intent and project objectives are met
Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, public agencies, and external consultants, maintaining clear and consistent communication
Develop, manage, and monitor project schedules and budgets, including cost forecasting and financial accountability throughout the project lifecycle
Oversee quality assurance and quality control processes, ensuring the delivery of complete, accurate, and coordinated construction documents
Identify project risks and proactively implement solutions to maintain scope, schedule, and budget
Mentor and guide junior staff, supporting professional growth and fostering a collaborative, team-oriented studio culture
Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, or equivalent combination of education and professional experience
10+ years of experience working within an architectural firm on full-service projects
Demonstrated ability to independently execute and manage projects from inception through completion
Strong experience producing and coordinating a complete set of construction documents without assistance
Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Proficiency with BIM technologies and 3D modeling software, as well as Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office
Ability to build collaborative relationships across multidisciplinary teams, clients, and consultants
Architectural licensure preferred
Portfolio demonstrating experience across a wide range of project types and scales
