The FBI requires the on-site assistance of a Senior Architect to assist with fulfilling the design and construction requirements of the AESU team. This role will provide architectural services include assisting the AESU's staff in meeting the increasing requirements of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Finance and Facilities Division, through providing preliminary planning, feasibility studies, functional studies, conceptual designs, development of design intent documents, and development and technical review of construction documents for renovation and construction projects. Construction estimating and review, project facilitation and inspection services during construction of projects may also be necessary.
Job Responsibility:
Act as a consultant in the establishment of design standards and criteria for construction projects
Provide on-site field survey measurements and verification including documentation of space, equipment, workflow, required adjacencies, communication and organizational requirements
Prepare stacking plans to accommodate functionality and adjacency requirements
Prepare blocking plans, schematic or conceptual designs, and design intent drawings in AutoCAD
Perform design reviews and submit comments in required format
Ensure that drawings and specifications which are submitted to the FBI for review comply with POR requirements
Manage design of projects throughout the project, from programming to post occupancy
Perform construction administration duties, such as reviewing and answering RFIs, reviewing submittals, reviewing and producing field reports, walking the site and verifying accuracy and compliance of construction with drawings and POR requirements, participating in creation and closeout of punch-list, and more
Review proposals, documents, drawings, and specifications for accuracy and ability to meet POR requirements
Provide support in development and evaluation of project schedules
Maintain knowledge on recent versions of the International Building Code and Commentary (IBC), the Uniform Federal Accessibility Standards (UFAS), and all pertinent federal accessibility standards
Coordinate with AESU peer colleagues, FBI Project Managers, customers and other Bureau personnel/contractors, and other project team members on projects as necessary
Miscellaneous services which will require proficiency in the use of Microsoft's Word, Excel, Power Point, Project software tools and AutoCAD
Assist in the development of reports, studies and presentations
Exhibit professionalism, good customer service and communication skills and serve as a cooperative team player
Able to multitask and assume multiple projects or assignments simultaneously
Collaborate and assist in resolving critical and possibly controversial issues with a multi-disciplined team of architects, engineers and federal agency clients
Exhibit resiliency if shifting priorities require reprioritization of workload
Understand and be able to implement standards as outlined in the POR, Campus Design Guides and Construction Standards
Requirements:
Active Secret Clearance and ability to obtain Top-Secret Clearance
Bachelor's degree in architecture from an accredited college/university
8+ years of experience in commercial/government office building design and construction
Must be proficient in AutoCAD software
Proficient knowledge of workspace design, as it relates to the health and welfare of building occupants
Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a Real ID or Passport in order to undergo commercial airfare travel
Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license
