As the Senior Applications Electrical Engineer, you'll be the primary technical interface between our estimating team, our customers, and our Engineering/Manufacturing teams. This role is focused on the initial project phase, primarily defining the scope of work, generating preliminary electrical designs, and supporting the estimating process for custom power and control products.
Job Responsibility:
Directly engage with customers and the estimating team to define the electrical scope of work and translate client requirements into clear, concise technical specifications for custom equipment
Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates and technical proposals, ensuring alignment with customer scope and manufacturing capabilities
Create initial electrical design documents for proposals and project handoff, including one-line diagrams, preliminary control schematics, and bills of materials (BOMs)
Confirm the accuracy of project materials quoted to customers, including the review of vendor bid packages and submittals for technical accuracy and cost-effectiveness
Perform preliminary branch circuit and feeder calculations on power distribution equipment, as well as specifying and sizing appropriate electrical components per applicable codes
Facilitate a seamless transition from the proposal/submittal stage to the design engineering phase by collaborating closely with the Estimating, Project Management, and Design Engineering teams
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related Engineering discipline
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing, construction, or project environment doing estimating, costings, or sales
Solid knowledge of the NEC (National Electrical Code)
Solid knowledge of low voltage and medium voltage power distribution systems and control panels
Solid knowledge of Office-based software systems
Basic knowledge of computer-aided design (CAD) to create and document electrical schematics and one-line diagrams
Solid skills in developing and maintaining effective work relationships
Ability to read, understand, and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical diagrams
Ability to work in a self-directed manner on several projects at the same time and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
