To prepare samples and carry out the analysis by wet chemistry techniques, NIR analysis and carry out NIR scanning. Job Responsibility:
Comply with UKAS ISO 17025:2017 for all accredited methods and procedures
Performance of all wet chemistry techniques
Preparation and analysis of samples for vitamins (HPLC), mineral analysis (ICP) and enzyme analysis
Analysis of all samples by NIR (Raw material ID, Premix ID, Feeds and Forages)
Assist the Laboratory Managers in the effective performance of their duties
Organisation of staff resources for sample preparation and NIR analysis
Training and supervision of laboratory technicians
Maintenance of all calibration Quality control
Entry of data for dry forage analysis and results requiring manual entry in to the LIMS
Ensure sample preparation room, freezer room, Sample store room and NIR Laboratory are clean and properly maintained
Ensure turn round times for analysis of feeds and forages are as quick as possible
Ensure daily department operations meet quality standards and targets
Ensure laboratories, stock rooms and associated areas are clean and properly maintained
Requirements:
Extensive experience working in an analytical laboratory, especially with predictive techniques
Ability to distinguish different animal forage and feedstuffs
Experience in working with ERP system, ideally experience of using LIMS
Experience of managing staff
Ability to understand and analyse information and identify anomalies
Understanding of compliance issues such as Health & Safety and UKAS Accreditation
Strong IT skills – Outlook, Excel and Word
Ability to work in a high pressure environment and meet deadlines
Attention to detail and ability to work systematically
Able to work with agricultural samples including silage
