The Senior Analyst, Inventory Accounting is responsible for leading certain global inventory accounting & reporting practices, primarily related to Profit in Inventory (PII) and Cost of Goods Sold (COGS). In addition, the role will drive process improvement initiatives in various inventory accounting/reporting sub-processes. This position reports to the Senior Finance Manager-Inventory Accounting; is part of the Global Inventory Controllership Process team located in Budapest and will be an on-site role.
Job Responsibility
Prepare and post monthly General Ledger entries related to Profit in Inventory (PII) elimination and reclassifications, for an assigned portfolio of Cytiva business units / legal entities, under the review of the Senior Finance Manager
Support the monthly Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) reconciliation between the GL and Cytiva's COGS BI tool
investigate item-level differences and escalate significant variances
Apply standard work defined by the Global Inventory Controllership team and contribute to ongoing process improvement and automation projects
Partner with peers in BU Finance teams, plant controllers and site teams across Europe, the US and Asia to gather data, clarify entries, and ensure accurate inventory valuation under US GAAP
Support month-end close and compliance activities — account reconciliations, SOX testing evidence, and internal/external audit requests — as directed by the Senior Finance Manager
Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business (Hungarian mérlegképes könyvelő qualification, ACCA part-qualification, or equivalent is a strong plus)
Minimum 5 years of accounting or finance experience (Bachelor's + 5, or Master's + 3), including at least 2 years in a multinational, SSC, or global business environment
Solid working knowledge of general ledger accounting and month-end close
exposure to inventory accounting, standard costing, PPV or COGS is preferred
Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, SUMIFS, data cleansing) and comfort working with large data sets
Confident written and spoken English
Nice to have
Hands-on experience with Oracle or SAP ERP systems
Familiarity with BI tools such as Qlik Sense, Power BI or OneStream
Exposure to process improvement (Kaizen, Lean, DBS) or finance automation
