SEG is seeking enthusiastic candidates to be part of our threat and interceptor missile modeling and simulation team located in Huntsville, AL. This position directly supports the Navy’s Digital Threat Engineering team, MDA Threat Engineering Team, and MDA/AB Threat and MDA/AB Threat Systems Engineering team that provides high fidelity U.S. interceptor missile systems simulations and threat engineering simulations of anti-ship cruise missile, anti-ship ballistic missiles, hypersonic glide vehicles, hypersonic cruise missiles, aero-ballistic missiles, and other foreign missile and aircraft systems that threaten the United States and its allies.
Job Responsibility:
Development of US scientific and technical all-source intelligence-based simulations to characterize the flight performance of threat ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, aero-ballistic missiles, hypersonic cruise missiles, and hypersonic glide vehicle performance
Development of U.S. interceptor missile flight simulations (3DOF to 6DOF) and models
Development of 6DOF aerodynamics, mass properties, propulsion system performance, guidance, navigation and control algorithms, seeker/sensor algorithms
Characterization of threat missile performance envelopes
Development and use of optimization tool suites
Executing design trade studies
Modeling of threat flight variations due to variations in environmental factors
Documentation and presentation of work to internal and external customers
Support of ongoing activities in developing a high fidelity Six Degrees-of-Freedom (6-DOF) digital flight simulation architecture
Ongoing development and refinement of flight optimization software and AI/ML efforts
Performing research and augmenting toolsets to enhance modeling techniques
Requirements:
US citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance
Bachelor of Science Degree in Aerospace Engineering (advanced degrees preferred)
At least 10+ years of applicable work experience
Experience in analysis and modeling of ballistic missile, cruise missile, and/or hypersonic systems including flight dynamics, vehicle performance characterization, propulsion system design, supersonic/hypersonic aerodynamics prediction, guidance, navigation, control, and flight test data analysis
Familiarity with MATLAB and/or Python programming languages
Ability to communicate well through written documentation and oral presentations
Good leadership skills
ability to mentor and train others
ability to lead a multi-disciplinary team
Good communicators with both verbal and written English language
Ability to work well as part of an integral team of up to 25 people
Nice to have:
Familiarity with the C++ and Python programming languages
Active DoD Top-Secret clearance
