As a Senior Advisor (Media, Issues & Reporting), you aren't just managing news cycles—you are shaping the narrative of a major government program. You will lead proactive storytelling, manage reactive media enquiries, and oversee a robust social media strategy. This role requires a blend of strategic thinking and tactical execution within a fast-paced environment.
Job Responsibility:
Strategic Media Leadership: Develop and implement media and social media strategies that align with program objectives
Content & Storytelling: Identify proactive stories to promote achievements and manage the end-to-end creation and scheduling of social media content
Issues Management: Monitor sentiment, track emerging risks, and prepare reactive briefs, Q&As, and key messaging
Stakeholder Liaison: Act as a central point of contact for media enquiries and provide guidance to contractor teams to ensure messaging consistency
Reporting: Analyse media and social sentiment and provide insights to senior leadership to inform decision-making
Requirements:
Media Expertise: Proven experience in media relations, managing enquiries, and crafting high-level briefs
Digital Savvy: Deep expertise in social media platforms, including content creation and sentiment monitoring
Communication Excellence: Superior writing skills with the ability to turn complex technical info into engaging public content
Strategic Risk Management: The ability to identify, escalate, and mitigate emerging media risks
Collaborative Spirit: Experience working with diverse stakeholders, including internal departments and external contractors
Previous journalism background highly preferable
Tertiary qualifications in Communications, Public Relations, or Journalism are highly desirable
Experience within government or on large-scale infrastructure projects will be a significant advantage
