Job Description:

The Senior Advisor, Compliance & Risk provides high-level support to both the Director, Risk and the Director, Governance and Compliance. The role works collaboratively with stakeholders across the University to implement and maintain the University’s Risk Management and Legal Compliance Frameworks. The Senior advisor plays a key role in strengthening a university-wide culture of compliance, effective risk management, and continuous improvement ensuring that risk-based decision making is embedded in everyday practice.

Job Responsibility:

  • Support the implementation, management and monitoring of the University’s Risk Management and Legal Compliance Frameworks, ensuring they are embedded and operating effectively across the institution
  • Assist in coordination and administration of the University’s Internal Audit Plan, working collaboratively with external contractor resources
  • Work with the Director Risk to ensure the University’s risk management frameworks, policies, procedures, and guidance remain contemporary, well designed, and aligned with the broader governance framework
  • Develop and refine risk management tools that measure effectiveness and support flexible, informed decision making
  • Work with the Director Governance and Compliance to monitor the external environment and engage with internal stakeholders to ensure the University’s regulatory and legal compliance obligations are understood and managed

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience managing compliance frameworks in a higher education or equivalent regulatory setting
  • In-depth understanding of contemporary practice in risk management and risk management challenges facing the Australian higher education sector
  • Demonstrated high level strategic, analytical and creative skills with the ability to think critically, problem solve and provide advice in a complex and dynamic environment
  • Demonstrated project management and organisational skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to confidently engage, negotiate and influence effectively in a complex environment with a diverse range of stakeholders
