Job Responsibility:
Adsorption Expertise: act as Climeworks’ internal expert on adsorption, providing technical guidance and supporting key decisions in R&D and process development
Adsorption Experimental Data Analysis: develop, improve and maintain methods for analyzing breakthrough curves, ensuring robust interpretation and data quality
Co‑Adsorption Isotherm Modelling: guide the use and implementation of co‑adsorption isotherms for process modelling and help translate laboratory data into engineering-relevant inputs
Sorbent Development Guidance: support the development of new sorbents by applying deep understanding of adsorption fundamentals and mass transport limitations
Dynamic Adsorption Modelling: contribute to the development and refinement of dynamic adsorption process models and serve as the go-to expert for all topics related to adsorption
Adsorption Process Development and Intellectual Property: design, innovate, and scale adsorption processes from conceptualization to deployment, strengthen Climeworks’ intellectual property position and support competitive landscape assessments
Requirements:
Chemical Engineering Background: academic background in chemical engineering, 5+ years of experience and ideally hold a PhD with a focus on adsorption
Industrial Adsorption Expertise: understand adsorption fundamentals in industrial applications and have demonstrated experience applying them in real‑world settings, considering operational and business constraints
Execution Mindset & Tools: pragmatic, observant and curious approach, proficient in modern data analysis tools and processes
Strong Communication Skills: clearly communicate complex scientific and engineering concepts to audiences with varying levels of technical knowledge
Language Skills & Travel: proficient in English and motivated to travel occasionally
