The National Medical Cost Analytics team is looking for an actuarial professional to support Aetna’s medical cost benchmarking and reporting. In this role, you’ll work with internal teams and state regulators to explain what’s driving medical cost trends at both the national and state levels. You’ll translate complex data into insights that leaders can use to make decisions. This is a fast‑paced role with exposure to teams across actuarial, finance, product, network, compliance, pharmacy, and state regulatory groups. Strong communication skills are essential since you’ll regularly present findings to senior leadership.
Job Responsibility:
Analyze and explain national and state medical cost trends using various data sources
Build strong partnerships with Finance, Actuarial, Market, and Compliance leaders
Develop new reports, exhibits, and presentations for recurring internal and external meetings
Stay informed about economic, demographic, and regulatory factors that influence Aetna’s costs
Support enterprise initiatives aimed at reducing medical cost pressures
Use tools like SQL, GCP, VBA, R, SmartView, ThoughtSpot, and Microsoft Office to improve reporting and processes
Help implement new technologies, including the ADAM cloud platform and daily claims data tools
Present complex data in a clear, executive‑friendly way to senior leaders
Requirements:
Knowledge of key managed care areas such as provider contracting, benefit design, and medical management
Knowledge of the competitive landscape and regulatory environment for Managed Care Organizations
Skills in analytical thinking and problem‑solving
Skills in organization, project management, and leadership
Skills in strong written and verbal communication
Skills in leading change and influencing senior stakeholders
Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of relevant work experience
ASA or FSA designation
Healthcare experience (Commercial, Medicare, or Medicaid preferred)
Ability to turn data into a clear, compelling story
Ability to manage multiple priorities
Strong critical thinking, initiative, and collaboration skills
Nice to have:
Understanding of Commercial and Government (Medicare and Medicaid) product strategies
