We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in San Francisco, California. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in overseeing financial processes, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and contributing to accurate and timely reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical accounting background, excellent analytical skills, and a proactive approach to improving processes.
Job Responsibility:
Manage the monthly close process, ensuring timely and accurate preparation of financial statements
Ensure compliance with revenue recognition guidelines under ASC 606 and lease accounting standards under ASC 842
Conduct detailed account reconciliations and variance analyses to identify and explain discrepancies
Review and analyze customer contracts to ensure proper revenue treatment in collaboration with cross-functional teams
Maintain and reconcile fixed asset schedules, including capitalization and depreciation
Prepare and review journal entries, including accruals, to support accurate financial reporting
Assist with audit preparations by compiling relevant schedules and responding to auditor inquiries
Develop and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy within accounting functions
Collaborate on special projects, such as system integrations and enhancements, to streamline operations
Monitor compliance with internal controls and accounting policies to ensure accuracy and completeness
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field is required
At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with a strong focus on technical accounting
Thorough understanding of U.S. GAAP, including ASC 606 and ASC 842 standards
Proficiency in managing fixed assets, lease accounting, accruals, and conducting balance sheet reconciliations
Demonstrated ability to perform detailed account reconciliations independently
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and identify trends
Excellent organizational and communication skills to collaborate effectively across departments
Familiarity with month-end close processes, journal entries, and variance analysis
