We are looking for a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team in San Diego, California. This role is essential in ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance through the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules. The position also involves collaboration with internal and external partners, including auditors, while contributing to the success of clinical trials, R& D projects, and revenue accounting processes.
Job Responsibility:
Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and schedules to support clinical trial and R& D accounting needs
Manage accrual workbooks for both clinical and non-clinical projects, ensuring data accuracy and completeness
Maintain and review fixed asset ledgers to ensure proper capitalization and depreciation
Oversee prepaid asset ledgers, verifying accurate capitalization and amortization
Collaborate with external auditors and service providers to address requests and ensure compliance
Assist in the preparation and reconciliation of accounts related to collaboration agreements
Establish strong working relationships with cross-functional teams to support financial operations
Ensure timely and accurate completion of month-end close processes
Participate in ad hoc projects, such as software implementations and process improvements
Uphold corporate standards for safety and compliance within the facility
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required
CPA certification is preferred
Minimum of 3 years of relevant accounting experience
public accounting experience is advantageous
Prior experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry is highly desirable
Proficiency in financial accounting systems, with NetSuite experience considered a plus
Strong command of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
Knowledge of US GAAP and SOX regulations is preferred
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects with minimal supervision
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with strong attention to detail
