Job Description:

We are looking for a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team in New York, NY. In this long-term contract role, you will play a vital part in managing financial activities for a non-profit organization, ensuring accuracy and compliance in all accounting processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial analysis, reconciliation, and tax-related tasks, as well as the ability to handle donations and revenue tracking.

Job Responsibility:

Perform comprehensive bank reconciliations to ensure the accuracy of financial transactions
Manage month-end closing activities and prepare detailed financial analyses
Track and monitor restricted donations, ensuring compliance with accounting standards
Process accounts receivable, revenue collections, and various payment methods including credit card, Zelle, and Venmo
Utilize software such as Blackbaud Financial Edge and Raiser’s Edge to maintain and analyze financial records
Prepare and post journal entries while maintaining the integrity of the general ledger
Handle corporate tax returns, sales tax filings, and related tax responsibilities
Conduct regular reviews of financial data to identify discrepancies and propose solutions
Collaborate with team members to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency

Requirements:

Proven experience in bank reconciliations and financial analyses
Proficiency in Excel for advanced financial computations and reporting
Familiarity with Blackbaud Financial Edge and Raiser’s Edge systems
Strong understanding of accrual accounting and donation tracking
Knowledge of corporate tax, sales tax, and tax return preparation
Experience in accounts receivable and revenue management for fundraising organizations
Ability to prepare journal entries and maintain general ledger accuracy
Excellent organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail
