Job Description:

We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join our client's team in Concord, California. In this role, you will take ownership of the General Ledger and core accounts for designated entities while ensuring accurate financial reporting and analysis. This contract-to-permanent position offers opportunities to expand into financial planning and analysis (FP& A) over time, working closely with the Controller to drive process improvements and support organizational growth.

Job Responsibility:

Manage month-end close processes for assigned entities, ensuring timely and accurate completion
Prepare and post journal entries, while reconciling multiple bank accounts
Review General Ledger entries and generate comprehensive financial statements
Conduct fluctuation and variance analyses, providing clear and actionable explanations
Perform monthly reconciliations for key balance sheet accounts and quarterly/year-end reviews for smaller accounts
Support audit processes by preparing and providing required documentation
Ensure compliance with accounting standards, including depreciation, capitalization, and revenue recognition
Identify and implement process improvements to optimize reconciliation and close procedures
Contribute to special projects and assist in developing FP& A reporting using tools such as Power BI

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
At least 3 years of accounting experience with attention to detail, preferably in construction or real estate industries
Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with financial systems (Penta experience preferred)
Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate financial insights effectively
Demonstrated accountability and ownership in managing tasks and responsibilities
A proactive mindset focused on process improvement and efficiency
Knowledge of month-end close, journal entries, and reconciliation processes
Experience with bank reconciliations and General Ledger management
