We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join a restaurant and catering organization in Los Alamitos, California on a Contract to Permanent basis. This role is ideal for an accounting specialist who thrives in a high-volume environment and can bring strong ownership to daily transactions, reconciliations, and month-end activities. The position will support accurate financial reporting by managing key balance sheet and income statement processes, while partnering with internal teams to investigate variances and improve accounting workflows.
Job Responsibility
Oversee the recording and review of daily revenue activity, including transactions from external ordering and payment partners, to maintain accurate financial data
Complete bank account reconciliations on a recurring basis, including weekly reviews and period-end tie-outs
Reconcile credit card activity, confirm proper support is in place, and verify transactions have been accurately entered and approved
Track petty cash movements and validate related accountability records to ensure completeness and control
Maintain accounting records for employee tip activity and reconcile related balances within the general ledger
Support the monthly close by preparing journal entries, analyzing fluctuations, reconciling accounts, and assisting with reporting deliverables
Produce monthly financial statements and supporting schedules, while investigating unusual trends across balance sheet and income statement accounts
Manage chargeback and payment dispute research, process electronic deposits, and retain organized supporting documentation
Prepare sales tax support files, reconcile intercompany balances, and contribute to cash flow reporting, ad hoc analysis, and process improvement initiatives
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
At least three years of progressively responsible accounting experience in a detail-focused business environment
Hands-on experience with month-end close, general ledger activity, journal entries, and account reconciliations
Strong working knowledge of bank reconciliations, financial statement preparation, and variance analysis
Proficiency with Excel and accounting systems, including experience with QuickBooks or similar software
Ability to manage multiple deadlines independently while maintaining a high level of accuracy and organization
Effective written and verbal communication skills, along with strong analytical and problem-solving ability
