Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Virginia. This role focuses on managing fixed asset accounting processes, ensuring compliance with organizational and policy standards. You will play a critical role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting month-end close activities.

Job Responsibility:

Maintain and regularly update the fixed asset subledger, ensuring accurate tracking and capitalization of assets
Identify and record asset acquisitions, transfers, disposals, and generate depreciation schedules
Process adjustments and reconcile fixed asset accounts with the general ledger on a monthly basis
Monitor capital project accounts to ensure timely capitalization upon project completion
Conduct detailed account reconciliations to verify accuracy and compliance
Perform month-end close procedures, including preparation of journal entries
Ensure all financial records adhere to company policies and relevant regulations
Collaborate with team members to analyze and resolve discrepancies in financial data
Prepare financial reports and documentation for audits or management review
Support bank reconciliation processes as needed

Requirements:

Proven experience in month-end close processes and general ledger management
Proficiency in preparing journal entries and reconciling accounts
Strong knowledge of fixed asset accounting and depreciation methods
Ability to monitor and manage capital project accounts effectively
Skilled in performing detailed account and bank reconciliations
Familiarity with financial regulations and organizational policies
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
