Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant (Contract) to support accounting operations for a project‑driven organization based in Bellevue, Washington. This role will play a key part in overseeing complex accounting activities, supporting the month‑end close, and ensuring accurate financial reporting across multiple projects. The ideal candidate brings strong GAAP knowledge, hands‑on experience in project‑based accounting environments, and the ability to operate independently.

Job Responsibility:

Lead and support month-end and quarter-end close processes
Prepare, review, and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments
Perform and review complex account reconciliations
Support project-based accounting, including job costing and cost tracking
Analyze work-in-progress (WIP), cost allocations, and project margins
Assist with revenue and cost recognition processes
Partner with Operations and Project teams to ensure accurate financial data
Prepare financial reports and variance analyses for management
Support internal and external audits and provide requested documentation
Identify process improvement opportunities and strengthen accounting controls

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
5+ years of progressive accounting experience
Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
Proven experience in a project-based or cost-accounting environment
Hands-on experience with job costing, WIP, and project reconciliations
Experience with ERP/accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite, Sage, Viewpoint, Oracle, or similar)
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, vlookups/xlookups, data analysis)
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Ability to manage deadlines and work autonomously

Nice to have:

Experience supporting multi-project or multi-entity organizations
Prior role in a fast-paced or operationally complex environment
Exposure to percentage-of-completion or similar revenue recognition methods
