Job Description:

We are looking for a skilled Senior Accountant to join our team in New York, NY. This role involves managing financial reconciliations, overseeing vessel accounting operations, and collaborating with various departments to ensure accuracy and compliance. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical abilities and a thorough understanding of accounting principles, particularly in the maritime industry.

Job Responsibility:

Reconcile pool balances by recording pool days, revenue, and undistributed earnings, while ensuring accuracy in general ledger entries
Prepare invoices for time-chartered vessels, rebill invoices, and credits for charterers, and manage bunker redeliveries and final settlements
Analyze impacts of changes in pool points on earnings, identify and report unusual adjustments, and collaborate with the commercial team on vessel downtime and voyage matters
Process broker commission invoices for time-chartered vessels and assist with rebillable expenses such as war risk insurance
Assist with drydock closing processes, including compiling and booking monthly amortization expenses
Prepare balance sheet reconciliation schedules for significant balances and coordinate with vessel accountants on outstanding accounts receivable
Work closely with the treasury team to ensure accurate coding and application of cash receipts
Conduct budget versus actual variance analysis for revenues and support the preparation of financial statement schedules
Participate in annual audits by gathering documentation and providing explanations for selected samples
Collaborate with the financial reporting team to update and prepare supporting schedules for financial statements

Requirements:

Accounting/Finance degree
5+ years of Accounting experience
Shipping Industry or SEC reporting experience required
Strong Excel Skills
