We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in San Pedro, California, within the dynamic food and food processing industry. In this role, you will oversee essential financial operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance while supporting strategic business decisions. This is a Contract to permanent position, offering an excellent opportunity for growth within a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

Job Responsibility:

Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports, ensuring compliance with accounting standards
Manage and reconcile general ledger accounts by posting journal entries and performing month-end and year-end closings
Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely processing of invoices, payments, and customer collections
Collaborate with department leaders to develop, monitor, and evaluate annual budgets and forecasts
Track and manage fixed assets, including calculating depreciation and maintaining accurate reporting
Provide detailed financial analysis and actionable insights to support strategic decision-making and identify opportunities for cost optimization
Ensure compliance with tax regulations by coordinating with external advisors and preparing necessary documentation
Assist with internal and external audits by providing required financial data and explanations
Identify and implement improvements to financial processes and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy
Utilize Great Plains and QuickBooks software to manage accounting tasks and streamline reporting processes

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
CPA or equivalent certification is highly desirable
Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in the food production or related industry
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with Great Plains and QuickBooks accounting software
Strong understanding of financial reporting standards and internal controls
Ability to analyze complex financial data and present clear, actionable recommendations
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration across teams
Proven ability to solve complex accounting challenges and work effectively in a team-oriented environment
