Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to support core accounting operations for a client engagement in New York, New York. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who can manage close activities, maintain accurate financial records, and contribute to audit readiness in a fast-paced environment. The role will work across general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and compliance-focused reporting, with preference for candidates who have worked in real estate or within consulting-driven client environments.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead monthly and annual close activities, ensuring financial results are completed accurately and on schedule
  • Prepare and post journal entries while maintaining the integrity of general ledger accounts
  • Perform detailed account reconciliations, including intercompany balances, and resolve discrepancies promptly
  • Complete bank reconciliations and investigate variances to support accurate cash reporting
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to provide documentation and schedules needed for audit support
  • Monitor accounting processes for adherence to financial controls, reporting standards, and compliance requirements
  • Maintain organized financial records and support the preparation of reports used for management review
  • Use accounting platforms such as Abila MIP, Sage Intacct, Yardi, or similar systems to process and analyze financial data

Requirements

  • 5+ years of accounting experience in a senior-level or equivalent capacity
  • Strong background in month-end close, year-end close, general ledger accounting, and journal entry preparation
  • Hands-on experience with account reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and audit support activities
  • Working knowledge of accounting systems such as Abila MIP, Sage Intacct, Yardi, or related platforms
  • Understanding of intercompany accounting and compliance-oriented financial processes
  • Experience in real estate accounting or prior work supporting real estate-focused organizations is preferred
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage deadlines in a contract environment
