Katie Weigel with Robert Half Finance and Accounting is recruiting to fill a Senior Accountant for a growing mining company with operations in Nevada. The person in this role will have a wide range of responsibilities in a sophisticated environment, making it an exciting and challenging role! Reporting to the Site Controller, this person will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of financial records while overseeing liquidity, vendor approvals, and bank relations in a fast-paced environment. Job Responsibility
Accurate and timely month-end closing procedures with minimal post-close adjustments, including journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations for site operations
Strong working relationships with the warehouse and operations teams to monitor inventory costs, track material flows, and analyze production variances against budget
1099 Compliance and SAP Master Data Management: Maintain accurate 1099 vendor master data within SAP, ensuring tax identification information is complete and compliant
oversee annual 1099 form preparation
Review and validate Accounts Payable transactions in SAP, ensuring accuracy of financial records and confirming that all support documentation is complete, accurate, and aligned with established internal control and approval procedures
Consistent compliance with internal controls, and SOX requirements
coordinate clearly, efficiently, and accurately with external auditors to ensure complete, well-documented, and timely support for fiscal reporting and audit requests
Utilize Vena and comparable analytic tools to develop and maintain custom dashboards and visual trend analyses, providing leadership with real-time insights into operational costs
Monitor daily cash positions for site bank accounts and forecast short-term liquidity requirements to support operational continuity
Work closely with the Supply Chain Supervisor to manage high-value warehouse issue tickets (>$5k) and ensure payment timeliness
Act as the primary site liaison for banking partners
manage bank account administration and ensure adherence to internal treasury controls
Maintain and process bank transaction within SAP, ensuring complete and accurate recording of cash activity
prepare and complete weekly bank reconciliations during normal business operations and monthly as a part of the month-end close, investigating and resolving all outstanding or reconciling items older than one month to maintain accurate, well-controlled, and auditable banking records in accordance with internal control requirements
Identify financial and operational risks early, providing proactive analysis to leadership to prevent bottlenecks and ensure smooth interdepartmental workflows
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
At least 3 years of accounting experience, ideally within mining, energy, natural resources, or another industrial environment
Strong working knowledge of month-end close, general ledger accounting, journal entries, and account reconciliation processes
Experience with bank reconciliations, cash monitoring, treasury support, and banking relationship coordination
Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookup functions, complex formulas, and the ability to create financial models and visual reports
Familiarity with enterprise accounting systems and analytics platforms
experience with Vena is preferred
Proven ability to communicate financial information clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders
Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and collaboration skills in a team-based environment
