We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in Flushing, New York. This is a long-term contract position ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic accounting environment and has a strong grasp of financial processes. The role involves managing critical accounting tasks, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with industry standards.

Job Responsibility:

Oversee the month-end close process to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are properly recorded
Prepare and post journal entries to reflect financial activities accurately
Conduct account reconciliations to verify data accuracy and resolve discrepancies
Manage bank reconciliations to maintain alignment between financial records and bank statements
Collaborate with internal teams to support audits and provide necessary documentation
Analyze financial data to identify trends and provide insights for decision-making
Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies
Assist in developing and implementing improvements to accounting processes
Provide support for special projects and ad-hoc financial tasks as needed

Requirements:

Proven experience in accounting roles, particularly in month-end close processes
Strong knowledge of general ledger systems and financial reporting
Proficiency in preparing and posting journal entries
Expertise in account reconciliation and resolving discrepancies
Familiarity with bank reconciliation processes
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
