Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our clients team in Kansas City, Missouri on the east side! This role offers an exciting opportunity to handle complex accounting tasks, contribute to compliance efforts, and support process improvements within the organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and a proven ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

Job Responsibility:

Prepare and submit premium tax and municipal tax filings across multiple states, with additional states expected to be added
Manage annuity withholdings, including state and federal filings, and perform monthly reconciliations
Support the preparation of annual, quarterly, and monthly compliance filings for regulatory bodies and other stakeholders
Assist in the implementation of system conversions to enhance operational efficiency
Participate in month-end closing processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
Identify opportunities to improve processes and strengthen internal controls
Address state complaints and ensure compliance with relevant regulations
Review income tax provisions and quarterly filings to maintain accuracy and compliance

Requirements:

Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a senior-level role
Proficiency in managing month-end close activities and general ledger maintenance
Expertise in preparing journal entries and account reconciliations
Strong skills in bank reconciliations and financial reporting
Familiarity with compliance filings and tax reporting processes
Ability to analyze and improve internal controls and accounting procedures
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
Strong communication skills to collaborate with teams and stakeholders
