Job Description

Robert Half is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant for a company in La Mesa, CA. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional with a strong background in general ledger management, month-end close, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and process improvement. The ideal candidate is analytical, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

Job Responsibility

  • Prepare and review journal entries and maintain accurate general ledger records
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities
  • Reconcile complex balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies
  • Prepare financial statements, schedules, and supporting documentation
  • Analyze financial results and assist with variance analysis
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing required documentation
  • Maintain fixed asset schedules and assist with depreciation accounting
  • Help ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and reporting requirements
  • Mentor junior accounting staff and support cross-functional collaboration
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and reporting efficiency

Requirements

  • 3+ years of accounting experience, with progressive responsibility
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred
  • Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting
  • Experience with month-end close, journal entries, and account analysis
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • CPA or CPA-track is a plus

Nice to have

  • Experience with Microsoft D365, Oracle NetSuite, QuickBooks, SAP, Workday, or similar platforms
  • Familiarity with accounting controls and software proficiency aligned with current hiring needs
