Job Description:

We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Scott's Valley, California. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in accounting processes, including monthly reconciliations, payroll, and general ledger management. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the organization’s overall financial operations.

Job Responsibility:

Perform detailed bank reconciliations for multiple accounts to ensure accurate financial reporting
Manage Cal Card reconciliations and oversee credit card imports, including Stripe transactions
Prepare and post journal entries for month-end close and other financial activities
Handle payroll imports and create payroll-related journal entries
Reconcile accounts, ensuring accuracy across 12-15 reconciliations monthly
Process CalPERS Health bills and manage retiree medical payments on a monthly basis
Assist with state annual filings and quarterly organizational billing processes
Support the Recreation Department with reconciliations and utility billing updates
Prepare accounts receivable billings and handle wastewater study data preparation
Collaborate with the Finance Manager on purchase orders and other financial tasks

Requirements:

A minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or a related field
Proficiency in month-end close processes, including journal entries and reconciliations
Strong understanding of general ledger operations and account reconciliations
Ability to perform accurate bank reconciliations across multiple accounts
Experience with payroll imports and payroll-related journal entries
Familiarity with CalPERS Health bill processing and retiree medical payment procedures
Excellent organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks
Strong analytical abilities with attention to detail and accuracy
