Role Overview: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join our team. The role is for a newly qualified SAIPA trainee. The role will suit a technically strong accountant who enjoys client contact, delivering accurate financial information, and supporting junior colleagues.

Job Responsibility

  • Supervising the monthly accounting department
  • Provide supervision, training and review of work produced by junior staff
  • delegate tasks and support staff development with self-confidence, self motivation and a positive attitude
  • Supervision and training junior staff and SAIPA trainees
  • Manage the preparation and review of management accounts, budgets and cashflow forecasts for a client portfolio
  • Preparing and reviewing Annual Financial Statements using IFRS for SMEs
  • Oversee and manage the timely submission of statutory returns
  • Assisting clients with accounting and software support
  • Act as a primary client contact: build relationships, manage expectations, resolve queries and deliver exceptional client service via phone, email and virtual meetings
  • Work with practice systems (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, CCH) to maintain accurate client records and drive efficiencies through process improvements
  • Support statutory and regulatory compliance, ensuring deadlines are met and professional standards upheld
  • Contribute to ad-hoc advisory projects and assist managers and Directors with client-focused initiatives

Requirements

  • Fully qualified SAIPA or SAICA Articles or similar experience - completed
  • Strong VAT knowledge
  • XERO experience essential
  • Caseware knowledge essential
  • Pastel Partner and SAGE ONE experience
  • Proficiency in accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, Sage or similar)
  • Highly computer literate in Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word and Excel)
  • Company and Individual tax knowledge essential
  • Proven experience preparing statutory accounts, management accounts and supervising junior team members
  • Strong numeracy, high attention to detail and professional judgement
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical matters clearly to clients and colleagues
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure, work independently and meet deadlines
  • Own transport and drivers licence essential
