This role involves handling complex accounting tasks, preparing detailed financial reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate initiative, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work independently while collaborating across departments.
Job Responsibility:
Prepare schedules, journal entries, budgets, financial statements, and analytical reports with accuracy and attention to detail
Reconcile general ledger accounts and ensure timely completion of account reconciliations
Analyze financial and statistical data, including budget variances, labor costs, and revenue trends
Maintain detailed accounting records related to payroll, investments, capital projects, grants, and inventory
Implement new Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) standards and ensure compliance with their requirements
Oversee monthly activity postings, reconciliations, and updates related to leases and subscription-based IT arrangements
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate entry of lease contracts into accounting software
Provide recommendations for improving accounting systems and contribute to their implementation
Act as a liaison between the accounting department and other organizational units to facilitate effective communication
Mentor and guide team members on accounting principles and practices
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field, with a minimum of five years of relevant experience
Proficiency in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and familiarity with GASB standards
Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret financial data to produce accurate reports
Experience in month-end close processes, journal entries, and general ledger management
Demonstrated ability to reconcile accounts and prepare financial statements
Solid planning and organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks effectively
Capability to work independently while applying sound judgment and initiative
Knowledge of federal regulations and accounting compliance standards
