We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in New York, New York. This is a long-term contract position with the potential for permanent employment. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in managing accounting operations while collaborating closely with the Controller. If you have a strong background in nonprofit accounting and a proven ability to handle diverse financial tasks, we encourage you to apply.

Job Responsibility:

Manage the month-end closing process, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting
Prepare and reconcile balance sheets to maintain the integrity of financial records
Perform bank reconciliations to verify account accuracy and resolve discrepancies
Create and post journal entries to support the general ledger
Oversee accounts payable transactions and ensure compliance with organizational policies
Assist in audit preparation by gathering necessary documentation and supporting materials
Handle ad-hoc financial projects as assigned to meet organizational needs
Utilize Sage Intacct and other accounting systems to streamline processes
Apply advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting
Collaborate with team members to optimize workflows and achieve financial objectives

Requirements:

Proven experience in nonprofit accounting and familiarity with relevant practices
Expertise in managing month-end close and general ledger accounting
Proficiency in preparing journal entries and reconciling accounts
Strong ability to perform bank reconciliations accurately
Knowledge of audit preparation processes and requirements
Hands-on experience with Sage Intacct and bill.com
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for financial analysis and reporting
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively
