Job Description:

Our client in San Diego, CA is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join their accounting team. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional with a strong background in general ledger management, reconciliations, financial reporting, and month-end close. The Senior Accountant will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting compliance, and improving accounting processes.

Job Responsibility:

Prepare and review journal entries and maintain general ledger accuracy
Perform complex account reconciliations and investigate variances
Lead or support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities
Prepare financial statements and internal management reports
Analyze balance sheet and income statement activity
Assist with accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, and depreciation schedules
Support audit requests and ensure timely delivery of documentation
Review accounting transactions for accuracy and compliance with company policies
Identify process improvement opportunities and help implement best practices
Collaborate cross-functionally with finance, operations, and leadership teams

Requirements:

3+ years of accounting experience, with senior-level responsibilities preferred
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred
Strong knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines

Nice to have:

Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, SAP, or Oracle
Background in financial statement preparation and month-end close
CPA or CPA-track is a plus
Ability to work independently and mentor junior staff when needed
