We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team in San Francisco, California. This is a long-term contract position within the investment management industry, offering an excellent opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fund accounting, tax, or partnership accounting, and a demonstrated interest in process improvement and automation.
Job Responsibility:
Review the work of fund administrators, including investor allocations, supporting schedules, and financial packages, while resolving any discrepancies
Reconcile cash balances, positions, profit and loss statements, and broker statements to ensure accuracy
Manage accounting for the management company, including expense allocations and intercompany transactions
Support year-end audit processes by preparing necessary documentation and coordinating with auditors
Process and review vendor wire payments, ensuring they are properly authorized and accurately documented
Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement and automation to enhance operational efficiency
Assist in tax reporting activities, including the review of K-1 forms and coordination with external tax preparers
Maintain accurate records through journal entries and general ledger updates, ensuring compliance with accounting standards
Provide support for partnership tax matters and collaborate on solutions to complex tax issues
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
A minimum of 5 years of experience in fund accounting, public accounting, tax, or a similar role
Proficiency in hedge fund accounting, including knowledge of trading products such as options, futures, stocks, and swaps
Familiarity with partnership tax concepts and tax reporting processes
Strong analytical and organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with financial tools like Bloomberg
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines
Nice to have:
Experience with data automation tools such as Python or similar technologies is preferred
