The Senior Accountant is essential to the integrity of the company's financial records. This role is responsible for maintaining the general ledger, performing month-end closing procedures, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and preparing documentation for tax compliance and audits. The Senior Accountant acts as the subject matter expert on all accounting entries, ensuring proper classification and reconciliation across various ledgers.
Job Responsibility:
Execute the monthly close process: complete timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities, adhering to strict deadlines
Journal entry management: prepare, review, and post complex journal entries, including accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, and intercompany transactions
Account reconciliation: perform comprehensive and timely balance sheet account reconciliations, ensuring all balances are substantiated and variances are investigated and corrected promptly
Financial analysis: assist in the preparation of management reports and variance analysis, explaining actual results versus budget/forecast
Fixed assets: maintain the fixed asset register, recording additions, disposals, depreciation, and amortization
AP / AR, bank reconciliations
Tax documentation preparation: prepare all necessary supporting schedules and documentation required for quarterly and annual tax filings
External audit support: serve as a support contact during external audits, providing required documentation, explanations, and analyses for GL accounts and closing procedures
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Minimum of 5 years of experience performing general ledger accounting functions
Experience with a major ERP system is highly preferred
Fluency in English and Spanish is mandatory
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Strong understanding of core accounting principles (Spanish GAAP / IFRS), financial statements, and internal control procedures
Exceptional precision and thoroughness in managing and reviewing large datasets and financial documentation
Proven ability to identify discrepancies, trace root causes of variances, and implement corrective actions
Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage simultaneous deadlines during peak closing periods
